I wouldn’t say something feels right about this particular arrangement but something does feel right about transposing the ciphertext. It always has I suppose. Again and again though, as someone suggesting moving the ciphertext around, there has to be some clear-cut reasoning or demonstrable proof that one arrangement is correct and not arbitrary.
I still like lining up Kryptos by re-arranging the ciphertext…
I’ve honestly just never gotten it to work so that it felt right.

Why was he so convinced that his old charts for part 1 and 2 would help us solve K4?
It really seemed like he was sure that once we had “BERLIN” and the decoding charts then it would be simple work to solve.
Why not the chart for K3?

I planned to continue with my theory on K4 I woke up from a nap yesterday seeing the whole thing so went with it. I don’t see the portion I already began and planned to continue further K1-K3 potentialities I saw as it all ran through like a script quickly so will copy it over and continue. I agree with Kryptosfan – the positions of the letters in K4 have always looked wrong to me. The way some letters, like T, seem to be concentrated in the middle of the ciphertext, while others are concentrated at the beginning/end.
Here’s a thought on “directions”:
From K2:

Is “it” the ciphering method for K4? JS used the compass(earth’s magnetic field) to hide what was going on in K4?
“T is your position” suggests a Caesar shift where N=T. This is appealing because if N=T, K=E, and K is the most common letter in K4. But, just shifting K4 from OBKR… to JNEF… didn’t clarify anything for me.
Could the compass be used another way, like a transposition? The text was actually spiralled around, then extracted backwards, or inside-out?
Could the compass be a key, somehow? If T is your position, the key is TOSABCDEFGHIJLMNQUVWXZKRYP.
Does it reflect directional orientation of the alphabet? Think about if you did a Vigenere, where not only do you shift to a different row based on a keyword, but the table itself rotates 90 deg with each letter, so the entire order changes? That would be hard to solve.
