Carve Her Name With Pride (1958)
It’s a pretty intense movie and story. It’s very good and you won’t be able to help yourself from liking Szabo which makes the George Cross part a little hard to watch. Overall it was a very different type of spy movie particularly as it is based on the true story of Violette. I say watch it at least once but once is enough for me. For all my complaining about lack of substance, this one had enough. The fatalism would have been a little off-putting and nonsensical without the real life context.
Leo Marks the poet and SOE employee makes an unseen presence in this story.
It was good, really.
Just a little hard to watch at times and not for the usual reasons.
