They’re pretty user friendly. If you can follow a Baconian Morse Code through Kryptos then I don’t think you’ll have a hard time.

There could be a Bacon cipher in K3. Note that the upshifted letters (YA_R), once distributed properly in the plaintext, fall into paRt cAused anYthing. If you ignore the last 3 letters, you have 15 characters in the pattern AABAA BAAAA AABAA, which translates to ERE. Kind of an odd word, but a word nevertheless. I’m sure someone has noticed this before. Any thoughts?
(Note also, this could be thought of as a PALIMPSEST)
I don’t think anyone has noticed this as far as I’ve heard.

Of course, this all assumes Sanborn didn’t modify the system.
Another observation: if you include the q and ? as part of the word anything and decipher all 20 characters with Bacon, you get EREA. That’s not meaningful as far as I can tell with online dictionaries, but it does make the Bacon and K3 plaintext coterminous, which appeals to my aesthetics. It could perhaps signify “ere a” ie, before the letter a. Or like I said, this could be a modified Bacon and say something completely different. Or maybe I am just smoking some righteous chronic.
Friedman is probably the closest I would get to a “hero” in the classic sense.
One modification to the Bacon cipher might be that A represents a Morse dot, and B represents a Morse dash. I’ve tried cribbing solutions to that effect, but so far nothing sensible.
Another idea re: ERE, is that it is there not because of what it means, but because it is a palindrome. That doesn’t suggest anything to me but thought I’d put it out there…
Did you notice the raised letters, the YAR section with the lower letter, is morse code for Q?

Morse code is written with the dots above the bottom slash. I don’t think Sanborn wanted us to use the letters but the placement of the letters. Hinting at Q again.
