So I’m cogitating and wonder about the Morse code symbols, maybe there’s some pattern?

I thought it’d be sweet if there were 81 or 97 dashes so you could get a staggered arrangement of letters that would prove enlightening.

In case you’ve ever wondered:

There are:

238 total symbols of Morse code (dits and dashes)
86 dashes
152 dits

Line by line and split by the rows they were put in:

10  dashes and 20 dits then 4 dashes and 26 dits
6 dahses and 14 dits then 10 dashes and 14 dits
7 dashes and 15 dits then 7 dashes and 16 dits
5 dashes and 14 dits then 11 dashes and 5 dits
9 dashes and 9 dits then 10 dashes and 10 dits
3 dashes and 6 dits then 4 dashes and 3 dits

This corresponds to:

I’m glad I tried but it didn’t take long to not see any patterns.

I’m kind of thinking along the lines that while yes, Scheidt worked for 26 years at the CIA, he also got his start in SIGINT.  I’m sure they dealt with a variety of languages, ciphers, transmission mechanisms, tons of random crap.

Maybe he used some of their old tricks and we just don’t get it because things have changed so much?

Maybe 30 years ago you could have shown this to someone and it would have been a matter of hours and days not decades.

It makes the second part make even more sense with the X’s and alluding it to a conversation with stops.  Maybe we should think of the whole bloody thing as a series of intercepted transmissions.

It bothers me that we’ve translated so much of it but only have some decent guesses as to what the point of it all is.  I’ve read countless interpretatius of the Morse Code, plenty of iglusions about K1, plenty of layers id’d by rows in K2, and a swarm of bastard progeny from K3 that I wish would give that particular method the proper burial it deserves.

What’re we missing?  What’s the most obvious thing about Kryptos?
